General

Is Jr Hoops a club team?

No — Jr Hoops only hosts seasonal leagues and camps. We don't have club or travel teams. Our official affiliated club team is LA Select (laselect.com).

What's the difference between clubs and leagues?

Leagues provide in-house games — Jr Hoops teams vs. Jr Hoops teams. Our teams don't travel to tournaments; they play local games within the Jr Hoops League.

What's the difference between Jr Hoops and LA Select?

Two main differences. Competition level: LA Select is for advanced players, while Jr Hoops is for beginner and intermediate players. Club vs. league: LA Select is an AAU club that travels to outside tournaments and circuits, while Jr Hoops is known for its in-house local league.

What's your refund policy?

Refunds are available before a season or camp begins. A $60 processing fee applies to all approved refunds. See our full refund policy for details.

League

How many practices per week?

Our teams practice two times per week (Youngsters/K practice once per week).

Where do your teams practice?

We're based in Glendale and keep practices close by. Gyms include (but aren't limited to) Academy USA (1219 Los Angeles St), Pacific Community Center (501 S Pacific Ave), and Maple Park Community Center (820 E Maple St).

How many games are there?

Our league features 7–9 games per season, plus a postseason.

How many seasons does your league have?

We run four seasons a year — Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer.

Are tryouts required?

No. Jr Hoops is open to all skill levels. We only hold an evaluation session to help us place players on appropriately balanced teams.

Does your league have an off-season?

Yes. Each league runs about two months, with roughly a one-month off-season in between seasons.

Can I still join if I missed the evaluation?

Yes — we usually hold multiple makeup sessions. Try your best to attend one; if you still can't, we'll accommodate you.

How many players are on a team?

We carry 7–12 players per team.

Do you have girls-only divisions?

Not currently, but we plan to add girls divisions in the near future. All current divisions are co-ed.

When do your teams practice?

Practices run 4–9pm on weekdays and 12–4pm on Sundays.

Can I request a practice day or time?

Yes — note any scheduling preferences on the registration form. We do our best to accommodate them, though we can't promise every request.

Can my child play on the same team as a friend?

You can request it, but we can't guarantee it. We take pride in keeping the league balanced, so requests are sometimes adjusted based on skill level.

Camps

How many days are your camps?

Our camps run four days.

Is lunch provided at camp?

No, lunch is not provided. Campers should bring their own lunch.
